About Us

Our Story
The Chunara Foundation is rooted in a proud legacy of service, scholarship, and community empowerment that spans generations. Founded by the Chunara family, the Foundation draws inspiration from our heritage and the enduring values passed down by our ancestors. At the heart of this legacy stands our Vazir Ali Muhammad Jan Muhammad Chunara, a writer, publisher, and visionary who established Nur-e-Mobine and the Ismaili newspaper, using the power of the press to uplift and educate communities in Karachi and Mumbai. His life of purpose and public service continues to guide our mission today.
Built on this foundation of integrity, knowledge, and compassion, the Chunara Foundation is committed to expanding access to secular education for underserved populations around the world. Our work is driven by the belief that every individual, regardless of background, deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and lead. Through scholarships, community initiatives, and partnerships, we aim to honor our family’s legacy by empowering future generations to shape a more just and equitable world. This is our inheritance—and our promise.
